What is your name (real or otherwise)?
I'll eventually pick a last name too, but haven't yet.
Describe your writing style in three words.
Varied, cohesive fascinations.
How long have you been writing online?
*Checks date of first blog post* That would be since the very end of 2012, about 7 1/2 months now. Huh. Thought it was a bit longer.
Which, if any, other writing challenges do you participate in?
I tried out a bunch, but decided I didn't want to do that many, so I narrowed it to Trifecta.
Describe one way in which you could improve your writing.
I could make my characters more psychologically realistic and imbue my plot with awesomer twists. As for actual actions, that means reading (both fiction and advice) and practicing.
But the most effective action I think I can take at this time is joining a writing group, of which I am in serious need. I intend to find one soon.
What is the best writing advice you’ve ever been given?
I recall not the specific form(s), but the idea was something along these lines:
It's okay to plot. Outlining is good and useful. If you have ground to run on, the writing part will be much smoother and faster, and actually get completed instead of falling off the cliff of now-what.
Some people are not detailed planners. That is awesome. I am a detailed planner. That is awesome. It helped me to realize this.
Who is your favorite author?
Um. Uh... I don't seem to have one I wholeheartedly endorse. Weird. I love aspects or parts of the writings of Ursula K. Le Guin, George R.R. Martin, Tamora Pierce, and Greg Egan.
How do you make time to write?
I have categories for my time, like world-building, learning, money-making, free time, and writing. Then I spend most of my free time doing one of those for a couple days or so, until i get tired of it and move on. So I do my writing in chunks of a few days at a time. It helps that I do have masses of time on my hands, and just need to decide how to shape it.
